From the family of Letha Wittman: We knew George for years as he worked in the furniture store. He was a special person, a good guy; a valuable employee of Aunt Letha. Our condolences to all the family.

I am so proud to have known "Grandpa". I first met him about 10 yrs ago through his grandson Anthony. Unfortunately, I regret to say that life happens and I became distant in the years to follow. Luckily, my son and I were fortunate enough to be reunited with him in the last year. It was through that time that I really had the chance to get to know him. I loved staying up late at night with him listening to the stories of his life, and WOW did he have a life! Having him stand over me while working on the house, going to doctor appointments, trips to Sam's Club and HyVee, and listening to him and Betty finish each others stories are just a few of the things that I am going to miss. I am so proud that he became a part of my life and took me in as one of his own, and that his great grandson was able to form a relationship with his grandpa, even if grandpa couldn't hear him most of the time. He touched my heart and my life and I am very grateful for that. Betty, I am here if you need me! Please don't ever forget that!
You are forever in our hearts and will be missed dearly.
Love Always,
Chris Marshall and Tanner Youngblood
P.S.
I promise you that I will get the rest of the painting done ASAP!!!! I am sorry I didn't get it all finished in time....I love you!

Bob, you were a great person, and a loving friend. I wish we could have done more for you, but from all your great stories, even you must have felt you have lived a very wonderful life. You are well loved and we will miss you very much. I regret not taking you up sooner on the fishing, but we can do that when we meet again. Best wishes to Betty, I know your heart aches, bob is gone from our life right now, but never far from our hearts.

Herb and I enjoyed being around Bob. Bob loved to go fishing and would take even the smallest crappie to make fish gravy. Bob was always friendly and enjoyed talking to everyone. He was definitely a good friend, always there for others. Bob was very proud of his family. He always had something witty to say. He was always taking care of others. He paid special attention to his elders and ensured that they were taken care of. Bob could sit on his boat for hours fishing even enjoying it when the fish weren't biting. I remember taking him trolling for white bass. He was a bit skeptical at first but after he got his first bite, he couldn't wait to get another one.
I mostly remember Bob with cigar in mouth hanging around the marina. Just thinking about Bob, brings a smile.

The world will be short an angel now that Bob is gone. Words cannot express my sympathy to the family. Betty, I know that you are hurting right now but remember that you have children to lean on. Doug, be strong even when you do not think you can. Your Mom needs your strength right now. Tamara and Traci hold your heads high. You will get through this. Be proud of your husband and father because he was a great man. Amy Freeman (Herbert)
