Glenowen Jenkins Obituary

Glenowen Jenkins of Kearney, MO, loving Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Brother-in-Law, Uncle, Cousin, Friend and Co-Worker, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2003, at the age of 71. Services were held January 13, 2003, at the Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Drew Newman officiating. Burial in the New Cambria, MO Cemetery. Glen was born February 3, 1921 in New Cambria, MO, the 6th child of Thomas Jenkins and Fleta (Jones) Jenkins Wolf. Glen's family moved to Bucklin, MO where he graduated from Bucklin High School in 1950. Glen married Martha Wegner on February 11, 1955 in Kansas City, MO at the Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church. Glen served in the U.S. Navy for four years (1950-1954) and went on many tours in Europe. Glen retired in 1992 from Ford Motor Claycomo Plant after 31 years of service. Glen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Kearney, MO. Due to health problems, Glen had resided at the Royal Care Center in Excelsior Springs since November 2001. He was crowned the Valentine's Day King for 2002. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Martha; daughters, Dawn Renee Lessiack (husband, John) of Columbia, MO, Cheryl McCain (husband, James) of Liberty, MO; brother, Thomas Jenkins of Denton, TX; sister, Eldora Hall of Marceline, MO; grandchildren, Jessica Jenkins, Liberty, MO, Lauren and Daniel Owen Lessiack, Columbia, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Glen was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Violet Head and brothers, Laverne, David and Victor Jenkins. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Kearney, MO or charity of your choice.
