HAROLD BRICKER Obituary

Harold Bricker, 85, Waukee, Iowa, passed away on December 7, 2009. He was born on March 30, 1924, in Greenfield, Iowa, to Glenn and Berniece Bricker. He served in WWII in the Army and received a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. He married Eleanor Irene Johnson on April 27, 1947. He was employed for 40 years with United Telecom/Sprint in Greenfield and Newton, Iowa, and Overland Park, Kan. Harold enjoyed his family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, golf and bowling. He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; daughter, Denise (Al) Essman of Des Moines; son, Bill (Linda) Bricker of Joplin, Mo.; grandchildren, Brad Essman, Brady Essman, Barrett (Mary) Essman, Dan (Tina) Bricker, Matthew Bricker and Kyle Bricker; great-grandchildren, Katherine, Zachary and Eva Essman. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Marie Westphal and Blanch Mensing. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. at Legacy Pointe, 1650 SE Holiday Crest Circle in Waukee. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 11, at First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for the Legacy Pointe Foundation and the Greenfield American Legion.
