Harold Hudson, Jr.

Key Largo, Florida - Harold J. Hudson Jr. died on January 6, 2024 at his home at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Florida. He was 99 years of age.

Born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 10, 1924 he attended the University of Missouri receiving degrees in Business Administration and Law. He later attended Harvard Business School graduating from the Advanced Management Program. He was married to Patricia Louise Orr who preceded him in death in 2005 after 55 years of marriage.

Harold was the Chairman and CEO of General Reinsurance Corporation for thirteen years. After retirement, he continued on that company's Board of Directors and joined the Board of Directors of US Trust Company, Lehman Corporation and General Signal Company. He had also been a director of the Insurance Information Institute, the Collage of Insurance and a director and past chairman of the Reinsurance Association of America. During those years he resided in Greenwich, Connecticut where he was a member of Greenwich Country Club and Indian Harbor Yacht Club. In Florida, he belonged to Ocean Reef Club, the Key Largo Angler's Club and Card Sound Golf Club.

For many years, Harold kept a home in Kansas City where he was a member of the River Club. He also maintained a home in North Carolina where he belonged to the Linville Ridge Golf Club. His principal hobbies were yachting and golf. He made numerous trips on his boat between Greenwich Connecticut and Key Largo, Florida and often said his happiest days were cruising the Bahama Islands.

Harold is survived by his brother Thomas Hudson of Saint Louis, Missouri and by his long-term companion Francesca Johnson.
