Helen Bedell Obituary

Mrs. Helen J. Bedell, 90 years old, of south Kansas City, passed away on August 23, 2006. Mrs. Bedell was born in Reger, Sullivan County, Mo., and was an elementary school teacher in the 1930's in Sullivan County. She was a resident of California, Utah and Nevada before moving to the Kansas City area in 1945. She and her husband, Jack Bedell, owned and operated Bell's Grocery in southeast Kansas City and later retired to Chillicothe, Mo. They were active for many years in the United Methodist Church in Chillicothe and were avid bridge players in the community. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Lloyd and Nola Elliott Crowdis, her husband, John T. Bedell, and her great grandson Shawn Pace. Mrs. Bedell was a member of the Central Methodist Church in south Kansas City after returning here in 1990, and resided at Kingswood Senior Living Community, Villa Ventura Retirement Community and at the home of her two daughters in south Kansas City, Janet Colt and Donna Nigro. She leaves the two daughters, Janet Hunsaker Colt and Donna Hunsaker Nigro; grandsons Stephen Covell and Jeffery Gouldie, and granddaughters Janet Pace and Karen Stolfus; great grandchildren Jon Pace, Kenne Ray, Kerre and Kyle Stolfus and Stephanie Covell, Bridget Gouldie and three great great grandchildren. Cremation. Memorial services will be announced at a later date. Contributions to Kansas City Hospice, at 12000 Wornall Road, under the name of Mrs. Helen Bedell, are suggested by the family.

Helen was a great gal in the short time I got to know her. She had a great sense of humor. She loved her family.
