Howard Brattin Obituary

Howard G. Brattin, 62, Holden, MO, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2005, at his home. Funeral services will be Monday, April 4, 10 a.m., at Langsford Funeral Home, burial in Elm Springs Cemetery, Kingsville, MO. Friends may call the funeral home Sunday, April 3, from 5-8 p.m. Howard was born Oct. 14, 1942, the son of Olen and Gladys Brattin; who preceded him in death. Howard grew up in Ridgley, MO, and attended Wheaton High School. After high school, he moved to Kansas City to work with his brothers. Howard was employed by Kimbrough Drywall, Best Drywall Company, and Brattin Drywall, retiring in 1990. While in Kansas City, he met and married Faye Rayl of Greenwood, MO, on March 31, 1963. Howard was an exceptional athlete in high school, playing baseball, basketball and track. Once he moved to Kansas City he continued playing baseball with his brothers on a team that traveled around Missouri. Howard was a pitcher and was scouted by Major League organizations. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and being with his grandkids. Howard is survived by his wife of 42 years, Faye, of the home; daughter, Janet (Danny) Graham, Holden; son, Alan (Rhonda) Brattin, Odessa; daughter, Gayla (Danny) Wood, Shelbina, MO; ten grandchildren, Tiffany and Ben Graham, Samantha, Elaine and Kyle Brattin, Justin Pflug, Preston, Dawson, Mallory and Zaiden Wood; five brothers, Kenneth Brattin, Wheaton, Ronald (Nell) Brattin, Greenwood, Lester (Shereline) Brattin, Greenwood, Gary (Janell) Brattin, Exeter, Mark (Robin) Brattin, Wheaton; four sisters, Veneta Smith, Cassville, Olena (Tom) Harvey, Huntsville, AR, Christine (Larry) Parks, Pleasant Hill, Debbie Phelps, Wheaton.
