Iris Amarante Obituary

Iris Concepcion Amarante, born June 26, 1954, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, passed away September 12, 2004, in Olathe, KS. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2004, at 6 p.m., followed by Recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. in PenwellGabel Funeral Home, 14275 S. Blackbob Rd., Olathe, KS. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 18, at 1 p.m. in Church of the Nativity, 3800 W. 119th St., Leawood, KS. Remembrances may be given to the Iris Amarante Memorial Fund in care of the family. Iris lived in Baltimore, MD, for the past 30 years, moving to the Johnson County area in 2003 to be near her children and grandchildren. She was active in her parish communities and always supportive of the church. She believed in a strong work ethic, an example she was proud to have passed on to her children. Iris placed the importance of her family above all else, and will be greatly missed by all who loved her. She is survived by her children, Robert and Ed (Amanda) Amadis, John (Tina) Jimenez, and Darren Badillo; her mother, Inocencia Amarante; her brothers, Diego, Juan and Jose Amarante; and grandchildren, Nichole, Mitchell, Isaac, Robert Jr., Jared, and Jasmine. She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Amarante, and her brother, Miguel. She embraced everyone she met, and brought joy to the lives she touched.
