James Spanier Obituary

James Spanier James Spanier, 78, was the husband of Julie Horner, brother-in-law of Charles and Mary Kay Horner, and uncle of Charles "Chuck" Horner, Kathy Morrison, and Stephen Horner. Jim graduated from the US Merchant Marine Academy and earned his MBA from Northwestern University. He worked in marketing research for General Foods in Connecticut and then Richardson-Merrell in Paris and London. He next led marketing research at two New York City advertising agencies before forming his own company. While working in Paris, Jim began his lifelong study of French, and in NYC he volunteered as the Senior Warden of a French-speaking church. Jim is greatly missed by his family and friends, who will celebrate his life on June 23 in a 10:00 AM memorial service at St. Andrew's Church, 6401 Wornall Terrace, Kansas City, Missouri.

Thinking fondly at this time of Jim. We first met at General Foods in 1970, and worked together often over the years. His great intellect, wit and charm remain with me. Jim was an original and continues to be missed.

I just head of Jims passing, and Iam so sorry. I worked with Jim many years ago when we both we're starting our careers at General Goods. Then, more recently when we both were on our own as independent consultants. I was thinking of him recently as I off to Paris tomorrow and was wondering if still kept an apartment there.
I have only the fondest memories of our times together.
My sympathies
