JAMIE BRADY Obituary

Rachel Jamie Brady, 86, was born March 15, 1924 and died Sunday, December 5, 2010, as the result of a stroke suffered November 29. Jamie was raised in Fayette, MO, and moved to Kansas City after attending Central Methodist College. She went to work for TWA, where she met her future husband, Robert (Bud) Brady. They were married 35 years before his death in 1982. She and Bud operated the first soft ice cream store in Kansas City, Kansas, and later started their own insurance agency, located on Minnesota Ave., and continued to work in the insurance industry until her retirement. She then enjoyed several years volunteering her time as a reading mentor to the children at Roeland Park Elementary School. She was an active member of the Roeland Park United Methodist Church and the Unos support group. Jamie moved to Trinity Nursing and Rehab Center in Merriam in 2002, where she resided until her death. She will be missed forever by daughters, Jennifer Felix (Rick) and Jamie Lou Wolf; grandchildren, Matthew Wolf, Jill Baker Wolf (CJ), Dr. Rachel Alison Felix, and Jacob Brady Wolf. In addition she was "Nanow" to four great-grandchildren, A. J. Wolf, Matthew Wolf, Madison Baker, and Jackson Brady Baker. She also leaves behind a loving sister, Mary Frances Wheeler, of Fayette; and a brother, Dr. John B. Simpson (Evelyn), of Armstrong, Mo. Her legacy is one of selfless love and strength in face of adversity. Visitation will be held at the Porter Funeral Home in Lenexa from 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, December 8, with services following. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Roeland Park United Methodist Church or the Kansas City Hospice House. Condolences may be expressed at: www.porterfuneralhome.com.
