JOE CALOVICH Obituary

Joe Calovich, 92, Tonganoxie, Kan., died January 30, 2012. Visitation 6 to 8 p.m. with rosary at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie. Funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice (Judy) Calovich on Feb. 22, 2005; and a son, Joseph A. Calovich on Oct. 24, 1980. Survived by three daughters, Judy and Wayne Cline, Cathy and Bob Cline, and Mary and Paul Bomwan; five sons, Mike and Janet Calovich, John and Wilma Calovich, Tom and Pat Calovich, Rob and Lori Calovich and Mark and Sharla Calovich; 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren, and three sisters, Helen Kritzer, Dorothy O'Toole and Catherine Hill. Born in Gary, Ind., on July 6, 1919, he was a WWII veteran of the Navy Seabees. He was a stone mason and farmer and also an avid hunter and fisherman. Memorial contributions can be made to the VFW, 519 Cherokee, Tonganoxie, or to the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Tonganoxie. He will be missed by his family and many friends.

Sorry to hear about Joe. The days spent out visiting the farm and Joe's boys, and the 4th of July picnics were some of the most enjoyable of my youth. I wish I had been able to get back to see everyone more often. Thanks to all the Calovich's for some great memories. Say Hi to Mom and Dad, Joe.
