John Collins

Overland Park, Kansas - John Franklin Collins, long time resident of Overland Park, KS passed away February 2nd, 2021. He was born February 4th, 1935 in Ottumwa, Iowa.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps after high school graduation. He went to work for Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City, MO. in 1961. After advancing to Executive Vice President and CIO, he retired from Hallmark in 1994. He was dedicated to his work on committees that advised corporations and state and local governments on information technology trends.
A devoted family man, John enjoyed playing golf, fishing and summers at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family.
John was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, a sister and a brother. He is survived by three daughters, one son-in-law, two grandsons, one granddaughter, one granddaughter-in-law, one great granddaughter, three brothers and two sisters.
He will be buried along with his wife, Virginia, next to his father, mother and brother in Ottumwa, Iowa.
A preferred expression of sympathy is a donation to a Parkinson's Research Foundation.

John was a gentleman. His contributions to Hallmark...and more importantly...its people around him...are immeasurable. Rock solid person. He lived a good life..and left his impact with family and friends. God Bless.
