He met his future wife, Martha Patricia "Pat" Crowe, at a USO dance in New York City, her birthplace and home. Three months later, he left for the Pacific where he served as Captain of the USS SEEKONK. After the war, on March 30th, 1946, Jack and Pat were married at St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York. They moved to Kansas City and established their home here, where they raised six children. Mr. Morgan returned to Butler Manufacturing Company where he quickly rose into management positions. He was instrumental in the successful merger between the University of Kansas City and the University of Missouri to create the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1963. Mr. Morgan headed the Fair Housing Campaign in 1968, as well as successfully chaired the campaign to double the earnings tax in 1970 to provide for better police and fire protection in Kansas City. He first climbed Long's Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park at the age of 17 and returned to his beloved national park frequently throughout his lifetime. He was a lifelong student of life with so many interests. He loved to swim, became an excellent cook, and hosted many wonderful dinner parties at his home. He loved to dance and spent many an evening on the dance floor staying until the very last dance. Jack also loved Loose Park where he walked for so many years and greeted everyone he met with a warm "hello" or "good morning".

My thoughts and prayers are with the Morgan family and all those who were fortunate enough to have known Jack. He was a kind and caring individual who helped many along the way. He will be missed. I shall always treasure the memories of him and my father talking about old times, like when they rolled the cannon balls into the Arkansas River as a prank.
My condolences on your loss.

The Morgan Family has our deepest sympathy for the loss of a wonderful Dad. I am grateful to have known Jack. I know our parents shared many great times over the years with each other and they so enjoyed hearing about what was happening with the family and the children. Jack and Dad were great friends and shared many great stories together which I enjoyed hearing each other's verision of what actually happened. We were so lucky to be able to have parents as wonderful as we did and for as long as we did, who cared so much for family. Jack was a wonderful man to so many people and was always there for everyone. Memories are what stay with us and memories are prcious-keep yours deep in your hear and your father will be with you forever. Blessing to the entire family. Tim Tatlock

Mr. Morgan was my Marketing teacher at UMKC about 1971. He was one of the best teachers that I ever had and I had the upmost respect for his knowledge and kindness. I know he will be sadly missed by all that knew him.

It is with deep sadness that I learned about Jack's passing this morning. Along with my unending sympathy, I send you my great appreciation for having known him and for his kindness toward me. When I first came to Kansas City 26 years ago, he reached out to me, befriended me, and kindly offered his counsel. I accepted his offer and have been eternally grateful to him for the things he taught me. Even more, though, Jack lived his life with a manner of integrity, grace, and forthrightness that I have admired since the minute I met him. When I face a troubling or complex situation, I have often taken refuge (and have been immensely aided) by simply asking myself: "What would Jack do?"

I will be forever grateful to Jack. And while he has passed from this earth, I promise you that he lives vividly in my heart and in my memory for as long as I do.

With great affection,
