Joyce Federhofer Obituary

Joyce Federhofer
March 19, 1942 - May 18, 2023
Liberty, Missouri - Joyce Emilie Stark Federhofer passed away on May 18, 2023 in Liberty, MO. Born in 1942 to George and Eunice Stark, Joyce was raised in Kansas City, MO, went to high school at ST Pius X and attended college at Mount St. Scholastic where she met her husband of 60 years, William Federhofer. A gifted artist, she studied art at Maple Woods Community College. She was a devoted (and fun) mother of two sons and kept deep family ties to Kansas City, Missouri after moving several times, returning in retirement almost 20 years ago to KC. In retirement, she volunteered at Hillcrest Hope helping families in need where she and William were awarded the Volunteers of the Year in 2014. Her love of cards, holidays, interior decorating, art, gardening, local and national politics, and her pet cats were just a few of the gifts she shared with family and friends. Her wit and laughter, breathless wonder at the simple beauty of flowers and nature, and cherished, tireless support and love for those close to her will be missed. Joyce is survived by her husband, William Federhofer, twin sister Janet Stark DeMayo, son, Douglas, and grandchildren Quinn and Romy as well as countless cousins, nephews, and nieces. She was predeceased by her son Kevin and brother David Stark. In lieu of flowers please donate to Hillcrest Hope or St Pius X. Burial Mass will be at St James in Liberty MO on Saturday, June 17 at 11 AM followed by a luncheon and interment at White Chapel Cemetery, 6600 NE Antioch, Gladstone MO.

I went to college with Joyce and Bill. Though we will all be "heading west" as the saying goes, when our time comes, losing someone as gracious and loving as Joyce is profound. It makes one realize that her beautiful presence is a loss not only to her family but also to her many friends.

This photo was taken in back yard of my parents house in Crestview on July 1, 1949 which was my sister's 4th birthday. Joyce and Janet are the girls with hair ribbons. My oldest brother Allen, Jim and John Weidemaier (twins) and Tom Root are in the photo also. My parents Allen & Bette Adams were next door neighbors of George and Eunice Stark from 1945 to 1950. The Starks were my godparents years later.
