Kansas City, Missouri - Katherine Ann (Kay) Palmisano, of Kansas City, Missouri, was gently lifted to heaven on March 29, 2022, surrounded by her family, and ending an extended battle with Alzheimer's disease. Kay was born in Leavenworth, Kansas, on November 13, 1934 to Verneal and John C. Rector. She married Anthony Palmisano of Kansas City, Kansas in 1956 and they were married for 66 years.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Tony Palmisano and was a loving and devoted mother to her 8 children, Mari Gronau, Marta Wallace (and Bill), Ann Calvert (and Bill), Sue Friend, Paul Palmisano (and Hildemar), Jim Palmisano, Tony Palmisano (deceased), and Katie Palmisano. She also leaves behind her sister Rose Pletzke (and Dennis), and her 18 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren and many close family and friends. Kay was preceded in death by her son Tony Palmisano, her parents (Verneal and John C. Rector), and her brother John Andrew Rector.
She was a graduate of Immaculata High School and then earned her nursing degree from the Providence Hospital School of Nursing. Kay worked as a Registered Nurse for 48 years at hospitals and medical facilities throughout the Kansas City Metro area. Kay was very involved in Saint Raphaels Catholic church where she served as organist and choir leader for over 20 years.

Our deepest sympathies are with Tony and the family.
Sorry to hear about Kay's passing. We did not know until I saw it on FB. She was a wonderful person, mother and grandmother and a great friend to all she met. Her winning smile and gentle voice gave comfort to all who met her. Tony and Kay were a big part of our lives and accepted us as part of the family. We will miss her. Please know that you are in our hearts and prayers.

I remember Kay Palmisano as a kind, beautiful mother of 8 who never seemed flustered and got her crew everywhere they needed to go--often, somehow, in a VW bug! Her kids were all gorgeous and very gifted! She and Tony (Mr. Palmisano to me growing up) were wonderful parents and always kind to the other kid rug-rats like me at swim meets. Heaven gained an angel.

It is with profound sadness that I hear this news, but comforted that she is in the loving arms of Our Lord. The Nelson family joins me in offering our most sincere condolences at this time, She will forever be remembered for her piano, organ and vocal skills at church and so involved with family. May the good Lord bless and comfort the Palmissano family, and know she is in good hands now.
