Kathleen Monaghan Obituary

Kathleen Elizabeth Monaghan, 84, died March 20, 2005, at Kansas City North Memorial Hospital. Kathleen was born on December 31, 1920, in Glen Jean, WV, the daughter of the late Leo and May McGrath. Kathleen graduated from St. Frances Nursing School in Charleston, WV, and moved to Kansas City with her mother and brother, Dr. Thomas T. McGrath, in the late 1940's. While a nurse at Osteopathic Hospital she met Dr. William Joseph Monaghan and they were married in 1952. They resided with their three children. Kathleen's biggest accomplishment was that of a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She will always be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her love for animals, and her gentle giving spirit. She was preceded in death by her husband William Monaghan, her brother Thomas McGrath, and her sister Mary McGrath. Kathleen is survived by her son Daniel E. Monaghan, Kansas City, MO; daughter Mary K. Siebert and her husband Mark J. Siebert, Lake Quivira, KS; daughter Theresa A. Chaney and her husband Robert W. Chaney, Kansas City, MO; and her loving granddaughter Leah Marie Siebert. She will be forever missed by her family and friends who loved her dearly, God Bless. A memorial service to celebrate Kathleen's life will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2005, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 1357 NE 42nd Terrace, Kansas City, MO, at 10:30 a.m. by Rev. Gerald Waris.
