Kathleen Ohm Obituary

OHM Kathleen Marie Gaughan was born on Dec 21, 1944, to John and Gerry Gaughan. She loved talking on the phone for hours with friends and family, walking to Starbucks with her bassador Molly, and telling funny stories. Raised in Fairway, Ks., Kathy attended St Agnes School, Bishop Miege High School and Avila college. She graduated in 1967 from the University of Kansas with a degree in elementary education. She became a teacher. After one year, she'd had enough of that! She took to the skies as a United Airlines flight attendant based in Denver, Co. There she met her wonderful husband, Tom Ohm. They traveled together and spent time in their Denver and Breckenridge homes with their beloved dogs Molly, now deceased, and Maggie. The family is grateful to Tom for his love and years of care he gave Kathy, and to Hospice of Denver for allowing her stay comfortable at home for the last weeks. Kathy is survived by husband Tom Ohm of Denver, and his children, Chris, Tammy and Tom; her parents, John and Gerry Gaughan of Fairway; her nine brothers and sisters, Pat and Rich Brewster, Dr. Mike Gaughan, John Gaughan, Tom and Denise Gaughan, Mary and Lenny Setina, Steve and Margaret Gaughan, Mo and Dan Orpin, Jerry and Maureen Gaughan, all of the KC area, and Beth Gaughan and Devida Chacon of Phoenix, AZ. She leaves many nieces and nephews, Luke, Erin, Bridget, Justin, Josh, Sarah, Ryan, Delmi, Kelly, Curran, Brett, Jono, Stephen, Mattie, Addie, Hannah, Danny, Eli, Patrick, Colleen, Jack and Kevin, all of the Kansas City area; eight great nieces and nephews, Aunt Mary Oyster of Wichita, KS., and many loving friends. We will miss her humor, sarcasm, wit and love. May she rest in the arms of the Lord for eternal life with the angels singing her welcome song, "I'll take you home again Kathleen". Cremation services will be held in Denver, CO.

Last Saturday the 25th, 2 days after Thanksgiving, I was scanning the Kansas City Star a day late and glanced at Kathy's tribute with a large photo of her, turned the page and started looking at other sections because, I'm sure, I didn't recognize the name Ohm. I stopped and was compelled to turn back the page and read the tribute and realized that this was Kathy Gaughn who I went to Miege with. Always friendly, approachable and real, she will be missed.

To John & Jerry & the entire Gaughan family;
Although I have been keeping up with the status of Kathy's health with Pat, I was so sad to hear about her passing. Although it has been a number of years since Kathy & I have spoken, I will always treasure the many years we spent together in grade school & high school. My wish for her parents & siblings is that they all find peace in the knowledge that Kathy is now in a much better place & that one day, hopefully, we will all be together again! kathy was a great aunt to me, with her living in Denver, i didnt get to see her as much as i would've liked to, but whenever i did, she lit up the room with her witty personality and great sense of humor- and i'll always remember how good she was on remembering everyones birthdays and special dates- and making it a priority to get them appropriate gifts and cards.
she will be missed-

Kathy and I taught together at Central Elementary in KCK. She was one of the sweetest most charming and charismatic people that I have ever known. She was my friend. We lost touch with each other after she left the KC area. I taught on the same floor as one of Kathy's brothers at Central Middle school in KC. I was a science teacher. I am so sorry for your loss. Please extend my condolences to the family.

Martha and I send our heartfelt condolences. Kathy was my friend, classmate, and neighbor thorough grade school and high school – at St. Agnes and Bishop Miege. I remember the last time I saw and talked to her. It was at our 30th high School reunion in 1993. She was the same sweet person I always remembered. We share your sorrow.
