Kent Zimmerman Obituary

Kent Zimmerman, 61, of Claycomo, Mo., passed away early Friday morning, September 5, 2008. Kent was born in Columbus, Neb., on Jan. 4, 1947, to Gene and Marilynn Zimmerman. He was raised in Fremont, Neb., and graduated from Fremont High School and Midland Lutheran College. Kent proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne during the Vietnam War, and received a Bronze Star. Kent married Judy Mintken of Hooper, Neb., in June of 1971. Mr. Zimmerman has been a part of the chemical industry for nearly forty years. Kent started his career in Omaha, Neb., and moved to Kansas City with his wife Judy in 1975. He has owned and operated Diversified Chemical Products, Inc. since 1985. Kent was involved in the local community by being an active member of the North Kansas City Rotary and the Missouri Stream Team. He is survived by his wife, Judy, his son, Alex, his daughter, Laurie Waring and son-in-law, Harry "Trey" Waring III, of Olive Branch, Miss.; parents, Gene and Marilynn Zimmerman of Fremont; and brothers, John Zimmerman of Tabor, Iowa, and Tom Zimmerman of Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition other survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father, and employer and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, at Finnigan's, 503 East 18th Ave., NKC, Mo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the North KC Rotary Club.
