Debbie, Carrie and family,I only heard today of Larry's passing. Iam so very sorry. Larry was always so good to me,giving me advice when I needed it and always a big shoulder to cry on. Over the years I not only "waited" on Larry and his family and employees of Miller-Cooper for many parties and gatherings but we became really good friends. He always told me if there was anything he could do for me or my kids he would be happy to do it,thankfully, all I ever needed was his friendship. I'll miss you buddy. Thanks for all the good times.I'll pray for your family. I don't know how they'll do it without you but I know they will. Carrie. please take care and keep all your sweet memories of your Dad in your heart. He loved you and all the kids so much. Again. I am so sorry for your loss. If there is anything I could I would be happy to do it for you.Love, Sandy Ragan and family.

Larry and I go back along time, 1948. We attended grade and high school together, played 3/2 ball, Indian ball at Boone school in the summers, in fact we were playing Indian ball the night the tornado hit Ruskin Heights. A group of us even started a hot rod club called the K.C. Turtles. I was with him the day he lost his eye, shared his pain in the passing of of parents and Grandparents. Larry was our oldest son's God father, not many knew of this. I loved larry like a brother, he was a good friend, and neighbor. I could tell you countless stories about Larry as well as a lot of you, and these will remain in our mines and hearts forever. Glenda and I will miss him as well as other friends, business associates, and especially his family. May God be with you.

Larry was a boss - friend - confidant -shoulder to cry on - a buddy to hang with, laughs and dancing (as bro & sis). We saved our sanity as we both journeyed thru trying & good times. God held us in his arms as we were healed with a precious friendship. I'm grateful to be touched with his life, and sorrowed by his passing.

My condolences to the Nylund family. Like many of the others, I too was one of those fortunate kids that benefited from having Coach Nylund as my football coach. Those years with the "Mustangs" are still vivid in my memories. I now coach youth football myself and I understand the time and comittment that was required of him. The gift he gave being a coach touched many lives. God Bless.

Larry ("Coach Nylund" when I was growing up w/ Terry) was one of the finest people I have ever known. He treated all of my friends with more respect than we deserved and worked us harder than we desired. I don't know of a single friend/teammate that ever begrudged him for that. We all, now as we look back at our childhood, appreciate the fact that he required we give our best on the field where he impacted us the most. I can say w/o a shadow of a doubt that I would not have quite the work ethic or self-esteem w/o Larry in my life. He was also, as many have said in this guestbook, one of the most generous people I have ever known. I can't count the number of times he took Terry, me, and friends to ballgames, Harlem Globetrotter's games, NAIA tournaments, etc. He never hesitated to invest his time, his energy, or his money in me...what more could a kid ask for? Multiply my experience by the hundred(s) of kids he coached over the years. I'm confident that many of the large number of people he employed over the years must feel just as I do. I am saddened to hear about Larry's death and saddened more that my sons won't get to have him as a coach. I hope to have a fraction of the impact on other's lives as Larry had in my life and those of my childhood friends. I'm certain Larry would be challenging me, as only he could do, to do exactly that. Let's ALL carry out this legacy and make sure that what he stood for doesn't die with him but lives on as he would have wanted more than anything. Thank you, Larry, for all you did for me and my friends during our most important and formidable years. May God bless all who are struggling with your death, especially my friend Terry and his family.

Thank You Larry Nylund for Coaching us.

Thanks Coach for your time & love you gave to with us. I always enjoyed your intensely for life. I will never forget all those good times I have shared with you over the years. You coached “THE MUSTANGS” Football Team for over five years and kept in touch with many of us. Thank you. My dad always stressed to me to leave things better than the way you found them. I feel that Larry Nylund in his own unique way left this Legacy of leaving things better than he found them. We all will miss you dearly.

With Love

Your friend,

Jamie Hunter

My thoughts are with the whole family: Debbie, Terry, Carrie, Lori, Lisa, Rick (peanut) and everyone else. Thanks for sharing your dad, husband, Granddad with us.

Larry was always a best friend to my mom, Nancy Jo, since the time they met years ago when we moved back to KC. He helped mom and us kids through tough times and good times and was there for us as we grew up if we needed advice or anything. Debbie, our thoughts are with you. I know Mom, Vonnie and Ric feel much the same.

The world will not be the same.

Larry was a wonderful person who lived life with a passion. He was a natural leader, and was one of the special people in the world who felt it his mission to help most all with whom he came in contact. He will be missed by all. For my family and me, Larry will be remembered as a kind, supportive man that took the time to show interest and offer sound advice to a young person trying to find his way in a new town at the beginning of a career, and who, for years after, was always available to provide guidance. He was a role model.

We are so sorry to hear of Larry's passing. Please know, Larry and family are in our thoughts and prayers. One memory I would like to share that I recall vividly is when Larry would come to my little league baseball games when I was 7 years old and give me a $1 for every hit I made. He was truly a remarkable and unforgettable person. We love you guys.

Debbie and family,

I met Larry when he started at Miller Cooper in the River Quay. There was no finer fellow in this industry. He worked hard, played harder, and was a fair and honest man in every way. I am proud to have known him and shared a few beers over the years.

God bless you all.

As a childhood friend of Terry's, I have always known Larry as "Mr. Nylund". He was one of the most generous, honest, and gregarious people that I have ever known. I also worked for him at Miller Cooper for a couple of summers with Terry (Terry got the good jobs becuase he was the President's son, and I had to clean out the toxic ink vats with "Art"), and every time that I saw him it was always "Schumann, how are you doing son?" I always felt that Mr. Nylund was another Dad in my life, and that he truly took an interest in me and my well-being. Terry, Carrie, and the rest of the family- my thoughts and prayers and love are with you.

I knew Larry through his son Terry. In our junior high and high school days, Terry and I were always together, and of course we are still indeed very close. Larry certainly appreciated how close Terry and I were/are as friends, and he treated me, and many other of Terry's close friends, as if we were family.

We were neighbors and friends of Larry when he lived in St. Louis. We remember him as fun-loving and at his best throwing a perfect spiral football with his and any neighborhood kids who wanted to join in. We remember that Larry, who did a lot of traveling at the time, thought nothing of picking up perfect strangers to give them a ride to help them out. So long Larry. Don and Lana Renetzky

To the best step dad a girl could ask for. Thanks for all the knowledge and wisdom you have taught me over the past 20 years. I will never forget it. I love you.

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious
