LOIS RITTER Obituary

Lois June Ritter, 96, passed away peacefully in her sleep early the morning of December 12, 2015, at Lakeview Village Retirement Community. Lois was born June 10, 1919, in Granite City, Ill., to Thomas Chilton and Pearl Caitlin Graves. She graduated from William Woods College in 1939 and served in several office roles in Illinois following her graduation including a position with the FBI. She married Robert J. Ritter in 1941 and they lived in East St. Louis for a number of years before the couple moved to Prairie Village, Kan., in 1959 where they would reside for the next 40 years. She will be remembered for her upbeat personality and ever-present smile. We mourn her loss but take comfort that she is reunited with her husband and other loved ones in heaven. The family is very thankful for compassionate care from the staff of Lakeview Village. Lois was a dedicated wife, loving mother and grandmother and doting great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her children, son, Robert Ritter, Jr. and wife Dorothy and daughter, Trudy Vanderweide and husband Phil, grandchildren, Lisa, Shelby, Kevin, Mark and Jill and great- grandchildren, Dalton, Abbie, Ariana, Jake, Sam, Gracie, Sophie, Eli, Zach and Bennett. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16, with funeral service at 2 p.m. at Johnson County Funeral Chapel at 11200 Metcalf Ave., Overland Park, Kan. The family invites contributions to be made to Great Plains SPCA or American Cancer Society. I regularly make visits where Lois resided with my pet therapy dog, Stanton. We always looked forward to stopping by to see her as she was very fond of Stanton. She was a very special lady and we will miss her.
