Overland Park, Kansas - Lorelei (Lori) Brown passed away July 7th, 2022, from complications due to surgery, surrounded by her loved ones. Lori was born April 13th, 1942, in Dallas, TX, the first daughter to the late Berlin Richardson and Una Imogene (Jean) Scott. After several years in Hagerstown, Maryland, the family moved to Prairie Village, KS, where Lori attended Prairie Elementary school, followed by Indian Hills Junior High School.
Lori graduated from Shawnee Mission East in 1960 and attended University of Kansas. At KU she joined the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and majored in English Literature. After graduating with her bachelor's degree Lori taught at an elementary school in Amsterdam, Missouri. She and her family settled down in Overland Park, KS where she raised her three children as a typical suburban mom, carting them to piano and dance lessons, as well as all the soccer, basketball, and softball games and practices.
Lori loved anything related to the written word and enjoyed working for many years at Bookslinger, a bookstore that was located in Prairie Village, KS. She frequently attended readings at the Writer's Place in Kansas City. Music was Lori's second love. She loved playing piano, going to the symphony, and listening to all kinds of music at home, often at concert volume.
Lori was preceded in death by her son, William R. Brown. Lori is survived by her sister, Sally Dwyer; her two children, Kathy Estopare (Derrick Rheuport) of Overland Park, KS, and Brian Brown of Portland OR; and five grandchildren, Lottie, Madison, Ian, Kai and Asher.
A private graveside service was held on July 13th, 2022. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at Brookdale of Overland Park for their kind help and care given to Lori during her time there as a resident.
