LOWELL BILQUIST Obituary

Lowell Douglas Bilquist, or simply Doug as he was called by family and friends, was born on December 26, 1954 in Independence, MO to Atha Waneeta Baker Bilquist and Daniel Eugene Bilquist. He passed away at his home on March 3, 2013 from congestive heart failure. Childhood was spent on the farm for Doug, living on several. As a teenager, the family moved to Liberty, MO, where Doug graduated from Liberty High School, class of 1973. Doug had several occupations throughout the years. He worked as a carpet installer and then in 1984 he received his certification in the heating, ventilation and cooling trade through Platte City VoTech. He became a building mechanic for AT&T for many years, and most recently for a hospital chain in the Florida Keys and later an apartment complex. He was also a journeyman carpenter -- a truly skilled craftsman. Doug was united in marriage to Carol Shirley in 1984. Three children were born to this union: Ryan Douglas, Scott Andrew and Jacob Matthew. Although the marriage ended in divorce, his family remained his life and he was always a proud father. Doug enjoyed being with his sons and doing things with them such as taking trips, doing home projects, going camping and most of all just hanging out. Doug was preceded in death by his father, Dan. He is survived by his mother, Waneeta; sister, Kris Howell; brother, George Bilquist; 3 sons and Carol Shirley. He will be greatly missed. A spring memorial service celebrating Doug's life will be held at a later date. Condolences may be left at www.dwnwhitechapel.com. Arr: White Chapel 816-452-8419. D. W.
