My mind races back over 50 years to the little white church in Deerfield, Missouri where I first met Malinda Welch and her precious family. Deerfield was my first student pastorate and the Welch family was one of the families whose patience, love and wisdom helped me in those important days of personal development. It was also while I was there that I was married.

Malinda was always gracious, a wonderful hostess, a wise counselor and a perceptive business adviser.

I cherish the many memories of Malinda and her family. I agree with my brother, Clifford, Our loss is Heavens gain! Our love and Prayers are with you.

Blessings!

My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Especially to Mrs. Myrle Jones(daughter) and Michael Jones(grandson). Michael and I go back many, many years and are dear friends. I have been blessed to know and love this family and met "grandma" as she asked me to call her on several occasions. Heaven has gained another remarkable angel. Fondly, Brenda Dickson

My sincere sympathy to the family of Grandma Welch. What a special person! I enjoyed the fun times we had together. One of my fondest memories with Grandma, was making Christmas divinity candy with her one holiday. She was always very kind and will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this sad time.

My sympathies to each member of the Malinda Welch family. Our loss is Heavens gain! My memories of the Welch family go back to the mid 50's when my brother, Claude Patterson pastored the Dearfield Church of God [Holiness]. I remember the Welches as "the glue" that held the Dearfield church together for so many years. Having driven to Dearfield from Overland Park on Sunday mornings Claude and I were priviledged to have spent many Sunday afternoons with the Welches, enjoying their hospitality and the fried chicken Sister Welch served! Previous commitments prevent us from attending the funeral service. Our thoughts are with you!

I'm filled with many wonderful memories of numerous times spent with grandma Welch. One couldn't ask for a more loving and caring grandmother, and I'll miss her dreadfully. However I know she's in a FAR better place now, and my heart rejoices in that fact. I love you, Grandma.

Dear Family of Malinda Welch,

My name is Claire Jones and I met Mrs. Welch when she rented a house to me in Overland Park in 1988. I was a single mother, not a lot of money in my pocket and appreciated a rental that was in such good condition at a reasonable price.

Every month when rent was due, I would go to Mrs. Welch's house and deliver the check personally over my lunch hour. She always seemed happy to see me. A few years later, she sold the house to me (and I live there today).

When I came to visit her for the last time, I suprised myself and shed a tear as I wasn't going to be seeing her for our monthly chat. I had grown quite attached to her. I think it was because she was such a strong and interesting woman, and, for her age, very engaged in life. As I recall, she was in her 80's and took a trip to India (?). No wonder she lived to be 101.

I remember ~ she talked of her daughters and grandchildren often, she thought the world of her girls. She always had a small measuring tape in her purse, she had her house redecorated and I remember beautiful floral fabric for her couch, when she sold me the house (8217 W. 83rd St.), she put in all new carpet and a new roof.

Today, I am married and my husband has redone the house inside and out, and has always been amazed at how well it was built in 1947. Though we could "move up/out" we choose to stay as we have such good "vibes" here.

Today, my daughter is 22 years old, and I have a great job as a Network Analyst. Mrs. Welch was in my life when I needed a break. Nothing like that happens by accident. God bless her and I thank him for allowing me to meet her.

With sympathy on the loss of your beautiful Malinda.

Grandma:

We all miss you so much. But we know you are with Jesus and free from pain. I was named for you and that has always been such an honor for me. I have such happy memories of the times we spent together. Your faith has always been an inspiration to us all, and you have always been the heart of this family. I love you always.
