Leavenworth, Kansas - Sister Marie de Paul Combo, 99, a Sister of Charity of Leavenworth (SCL) for 75 years, died on April 1, 2024. Born Kathryn Cecelia Combo, she entered religious life on August 19, 1948, and took the name Sister Marie de Paul when she received her habit. Who would not love Marie de Paul? I met her at Holy Family Catholic Worker House in KC, MO when I became a member of their faith community. She encouraged me to participate in several social justice activities specific to education since I was a professor. She paid close attention to what each of us dedicated our time to and in that knowledge gave me information about art, performance art in particular, that I included, along with my acknowledgement of thanks to her, in my book Ideas About Art (2011) Wiley Blackwell publishers. I loved Sister Marie de Paul. She is truly a saint or an angel...

What an inspiration Marie de Paul was to all of us Butte natives for her many acts of solidarity and social justice on behalf of the poor and the "wretched of the earth"! She has left a beautiful legacy for future generations! Well done good and faithful servant! Fr. Steve Judd, M.M.
