Marilyn Bruner Obituary

Marilyn Bruner

February 5, 1943 - May 25, 2024

Overland Park, Kansas - Marilyn Sue Bruner, the "sunshine on our shoulders", passed away peacefully in her Overland Park home, surrounded by her family on May 25th 2024. God allowed her to walk on this earth for 81 years, living a joyous and fulfilling life. We were blessed to be with her, and are eternally grateful for the imprint she made and will continue to have on our lives.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Raymond P Hahn and MarLou Hahn. Survived by her loving husband, Samuel K. Bruner; her children, Christy and Karey Bruner and wife Meredith, and her four Nana adoring Grandchildren, Olivia, Eli, Everett and Bishop. She also leaves behind her brother Richard P. Hahn and family, Nanci Hahn Gilmore and family, and Pete and Barbara Waas. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and Grandmother.

Mom was a Gamma Phi who transferred from K State to KU (Dad had a little something to do with that), where she earned a Bachelors in Education and taught 4th grade for 7 years. Marilyn married her soulmate on August 28, 1964. Sam and Marilyn were magnetic together, and the lifelong friends they made in school were among many of their most treasured gifts and memories.

Marilyn will be remembered for her kind spirit and beautiful smile. An amazing friend, her quiet strength, huge heart, and a deep love and gratitude for family and friends. She worshipped the mountains, had a funny wit and a finesse for Bridge.

If God needed another angel, He got the best one.

Life Celebraon services to be announced at a further date.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rocky Mountain National Park in Estes Park, Colorado.

Marilyn was a gentle and generous woman, and was often a second mother to me. She always made me feel welcome and at home in her home.

Marilyn was such a wonderful soul. She was a great friend for many years to my Mom and Dad, and was always so caring to John and me. She welcomed my wife Nicole into her life, even throwing her a wedding shower! I always remember the great times as a kid at the house in the Ozarks and in the cabin in Estes Park. Sam, Christy, and Karey I´ll so sorry for your loss. She will be greatly missed. Love, Biff Landeck

Marilyn and Sam loved Estes Park Colorado and my wife and I loved visiting them there. Marilyn was Sam´ Rock, and vice verse.
