MARY SCHMUKE Obituary

Mary E. Schmuke of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on March 7, 2013. She was born on January 30, 1928, and was one of 11 children born to Roy and Olive Mays in Dallas, Texas. Mary was married in 1948 to Joseph Schmuke. They had three children, Mary Jo, John and Sharon. Mary is survived by her son John, daughter-in-law Carol, granddaughter Jill; daughter Sharon, grandchildren Finnian and Muriel. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, her daughter Mary Jo and son-in-law, Kevin Anderson. Mary was a voracious reader and a formidable Scrabble opponent. Her good nature, quick wit and disarming sense of humor were endearing, life- long qualities. The family would like to thank the staffs of St. Luke's South Hospital and Delmar Gardens of Overland Park for their compassionate care. A Life Celebration Service will be held Friday, March 22, at 2:00 p.m. at Unity Temple on the Plaza, 707 West 47th Street, Kansas City, Missouri. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Disabled American Veterans Fund. D.W. Newcomer's Sons Funeral Homes, Cemeteries, Crematories.816-931-7777 www.stineandmcclure.com

Sharon,

What a joyful lady your mother has been and what a joy! May all the wonderful memories help you in the rough spots and knowing that she no longer must fight any battles leave you all with peace.

Love,

Dan & Dee
