Middo Tusher Obituary

1934 - 2006 Mildred Jornayvaz "Middo" Tusher, 71, Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri died Saturday July 15, 2006 at Specialty Hospital of Mid America in Overland Park after a very courageous 10 month battle with acute pancreatitis. She was born in St. Joseph September 3, 1934. She was the granddaughter of Michael K. and Lena Goetz of St. Joseph, founders of the former Goetz Brewery. She married Jack E. Tusher April 28,1961 in St. Joseph. He preceded her in death January 14, 2000. Middo was a wonderful wife, mother, and homemaker. She spent her life providing a beautiful home for her family and making others happy. She was also preceded in death by her parents Robert Paul and Mildred (Goetz) Jornayvaz. She was a sustaining member of the Junior League of Kansas City, Missouri. She was a graduate of The Barstow High School in Kansas City and Mt. Vernon Jr. College in Washington, D.C. She was employed at Allmand Bros., Inc./Port-A- Light Division in Overland Park, and most recently by Congregation Ohev Shalom, Prairie Village. She was a member of the Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village. Middo dearly loved the great friends she came to know through school, work and volunteering. Many people touched her more than they can know. She is survived by her loving daughters Marcie Tusher, and Jennifer L. Hopkins. She was also so very happy to have her new son-in-law Shawn Hopkins and new grandsons C.J., Alex and Zach all of Shawnee. Middo also leaves behind her beloved goddaughter, Darcy Carpenter of Overland Park, KS; her brother Robert P. Jornayvaz, Jr. of Temple, Texas; her nephews Paul Jornayvaz of Houston, Texas and Robert Jornayvaz, III of Denver, Colorado. Her family wishes to thank all of the wonderful health care professionals who cared for her during her illness. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 28, 2006 at Village Presbyterian Church 67th and Mission Road, Prairie Village, Kansas. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Entombment will be in Ashland Mausoleum, St. Joseph. Arrangements are under the direction of Meierhoffer Funeral Home and Crematory, St. Joseph. The family suggests memorial gifts to Middo Tusher Memorial Fund c/o First National Bank of Kansas, 6301 Pflumm, Shawnee, KS 66216. A donation will be made to the Neurofibromatosis Children's Tumor Fund.
