NEIL SHANK Obituary

Neil A. Shank, DO, MPH - 73 years old - passed away Friday, April 2, 2010. Dr. Shank was born in Newark, New Jersey on October 11, 1936. He received his Pharmacy Degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1956. He owned his own pharmacy until he decided to become a physician. He gained the necessary pre-requisites from Baylor University in Waco, Texas. He attended the Osteopathic School in Kansas City, Missouri where he graduated, in the top ten, of his class in 1971. He did his Residency at Menorah Medical Center in Internal Medicine. He was the Chief Resident before opening his own private medical practice in 1974. His medical career took him through many areas of healthcare. He went back to school while in his sixties to do a fellowship in occupational Medicine. He also received his Master's Degree in Public Health (MPH) at this time. Dr. Shank was a loving Father, Grandfather and Father-in-Law. He is survived by his son Andrew Shank, of Lawrence, Kansas; his son Michael Shank, of Overland Park, Kansas, his Daughter Pamela Shank of San Jose, CA. His Grand-Daughter Jordan Shank, of Virginia Beach, Virginia and his Daughter- in-Law Wafaa Shank, of Lawrence, Kansas. Dr. Shank was a healer, a friend, and an avid dog lover. He will be dearly missed. Memorial donations may be sent to Menorah Medical Center. A Memorial Service for Dr. Shank will be held, and announced, at a later date.
