A Snapchat memory of Owen from back in 2016 popped up the other day-he and I were eating lunch together at Union during Midland´s time there for basketball tournament. In the video, I was trying to get Owen to do this really funny sounding joke laugh, and after awhile, he obliged. I laughed hard then, and again when I saw the memory video. I wanted to send it to him and laugh about the good times again! I´ll always remember his upbeat, positive energy and fellow love for all things Kansas City. RIP my friend, until that day we meet again.

This is one of the hardest loses to accept. The only positive take away is that Owen lived a life that was filled with joy. He enjoyed simple moments. I got to know Owen a bit during the 2017-18 school year at union college where I was his RA. His integrity showed so bright each time I interacted with him. He was true to himself regardless of where he was or who was around him. I enjoyed the 15-20 min chat with him and Greg after doing check. Never a dull moment when he was around. Although I was not in his close circle of friends I got to know him to a level where I understood what his life values were. A true soldier of Christ, can´t wait to say what´s up to him again. Gone way too soon but he left his mark on many peoples life.

I was the girls director at Broken Arrow ranch when Owen was a camper. As a camper, he stood out as always wanting to be near the staff and wanting to know what event would happen next etc. He teased me a lot for being short. I will always remember him putting his elbow on my head and looking down at me to make me laugh. It was no surprise to me to hear that he not only worked at Broken Arrow but was also the boys director. Praying for his family, friends, and the Broken Arrow family.

Owen was a wonderful individual who was always willing to be involved and was always helpful in may different ways. Owen was someone that I could count on at Midland while he was there and was very clearly a developing leader in his time at Broken Arrow Ranch. Owen will be missed by many people and I look forward to seeing Owen again when Jesus comes again.
Heavenly Father, may Your peace be with Owen's family and his friends in this time of grieving. We look forward to your soon return. Give us strength and courage until that time. Amen.

It was our privilege to teach Owen, at Midland, and watch him grow into a fine young man. Basketball games, Diversity, SA - all are great memories. We were thrilled at his decision to give his life to Jesus and have enjoyed watching from a distance as he prepared to be a teacher. Christine, our prayers are with you as you face yet another huge loss. May God be with you, and grant you peace.

We didn't know Owen personally but saw him often as we attended events at Midland Academy and the graduation ceremony at Union College. Carrie Helmer is our granddaughter, therefore it was our privilege to attend these events.
We are so sorry for your loss of this very fine young man. Please know you are in our prayers and send our sympathy. May God be with you and bring comfort as you grieve the loss of Owen.

I am so sorry to hear about Owen. Although we didn't know your family personally, our son Noah would have been in Owen's class at Midland and Owen received Noah's Scholarship one year due to his kind and loving heart.
As a parent who is now 20 years into this journey of loss, there are bad days but what got me through were precious memories of Noah. Until we hold our sons again. Valerie, Jonathan, and Jonah Rexin
