PATRICK CARNEY Obituary

Patrick James Carney, 54, of Mound City, Kansas, passed away November 22, 2010, at the Kansas City Hospice House. He was born September 17, 1956, in Minneapolis, MN, son of Clifford and Agnes Carney. He was the youngest of nine siblings. On May 21, 1982, he married Cindy Zimmerman. Pat was the owner of the Country Club Bar in Mound City, KS, and also owned the Fort Scott Golf Course and Country Club in Ft. Scott, KS. He loved fishing and golf, listening to Johnny Cash, spending time with family and friends and sports of all kinds. Pat was a standout performer for the Richfield High School, Richfield, MN, and the Richfield American Legion Post 435 baseball teams, including the 1973 team which went to the American Legion World Series. Pat touched the hearts and lives of the many whose paths he crossed with his kindness, determination and love. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He was dedicated to his family and always worked too hard to make sure that they were well provided for. He was a man of strength and compassion. He was a fighter of all battles that crossed his path. Many memories will remain as his name will live on forever. Pat was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Tom. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Cindy; his son Travis; daughter and son-in-law Brooke and Adam Salvoni; grandson Patrick; mother Agnes; brothers Joe, Cliff, Dale and Mike and sisters Elaine, Darlene and Peggy. Pat's family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the KC Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, KC, MO 64145. Condolences may be shared at www.CremationCenterKC.com. When we moved to KC in 1998, Pat Carney's baseball teams were well coached and always had the top area players on it. He was a terrific competitor who hated to lose. My memories of Pat will be those on the baseball diamond. A solid coach and a fine young man.
