PEGGY ALLEN Obituary

Peggy Allen died peacefully, surrounded by the ones she laughed with, lived for and loved, on January 22, 2014. She was born in 1929 to her parents, Erschel and Louise Phillips, raised in Princeton, Mo., and Kansas City, eventually settling in Lee's Summit. She met and fell in love with Forrest Allen with whom she shared an amazing marriage of 46 years with before he left us in 1996. From this chemistry came two wonderful children. Not too many things slowed Peggy down; dialysis for the last nine years became a reason and challenge to tackle goals seemingly untouchable, yet, accomplished with encouragement and determination wholly owned by Peg. Not enough can be said to how much Peggy ensured that her family remained her top priority. And she succeeded, overwhelmingly. Yet, having fun was an important ingredient to her life success, evidenced by her many years as a member of the Eastern Star, Ararat Needle Guild, Ararat Ladies Without Nobles and any number or related, worthy charities. In her free time, Peggy volunteered at Lee's Summit Hospital. Peggy liked (loved) to travel. Florida became the 'go-to' destination for these last years. Parasailing became a ho-hum highlight on almost every road trip to Panama City Beach. We'll miss our mom. Surviving Peggy are her son, Ben Allen and daughter-in-law Cheryl, daughter, Lezlie Seibolt and son-in-law Mitch. Two grandkids, Stephanie Allen and BJ Allen, have become wonderful adults, influenced by Peggy's ongoing demonstration to us all that limitations in life are really just road bumps to your eventual success. We will love you and miss you forever. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Lee's Summit Animal Rescue, or a rescue organization of your choice. Visitation will be 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, at the Lee's Summit Christian Church, 800 NE Tudor Road, Lee's Summit, MO 64086, followed by funeral services at the church. Burial Mt. Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Mo. Arr.: Langsford Funeral Home, (816) 524-3700.
