Peter Bellos Obituary

Peter Bellos, 75, of Shawnee, Kan., passed away at home on September 16, 2008. Born on July 14, 1933, in Kansas City, Mo., to Peter N. and V. Adaline Bellos. Pete graduated from Northwestern University, and received a Masters from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He taught at Orrick High School, and Westport High before going into advertising with Western Auto and Midland International. Pete ran his own agency for several years before joining Champ Service Lines, retiring in 1993 to devote his time to building the Rio Golare Railroad, an SN3 model railroad layout. A life time member of the National Model Railroad Association, Pete earned the title of Master Model Railroader #386 in 2006, as well as many awards and recognition. He was predeceased by his parents, and brother, Nicholas Bellos, and survived by his wife, Tedy; daughters Michelle Vislosky, Fairfield, Conn., Sharon Bellos, Independence, Mo., and Susan Blaser and husband Ben, Lawson, Mo.; a son, Charlie Bellos and wife Cindy, Lawson; 10 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also, his sister, Ann Mogridge; and nieces, Altona Duston, spouse Hal and Dianna Kelsey, spouse Warren and seven great nieces and nephews. Cremation with a Celebration of Life to be held at later date. The family requests no flowers. Donations may be made to Animal Haven, Merriam, Kan., or Friends of the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad at www.cumbrestoltec.org. Arrangements: Kansas City Funeral Directors.

I am sorry to here about the passing of Pete. I went to a narrow gauge convention with Pete in Denver not too long ago. He will be starting that new layout upstairs now.
