Pierce's birthday was Sunday. He would have been 37 years old. And yes, I still miss him.
We bought a new house and this morning I hung my first picture. It was my baby in his Naval uniform. Now it is a home.

It has now been 3 years. I still miss him everyday. I miss his smile, his touch and his "Now Mother" look. This 3rd year anniversary has been the hardest for me so far. His birthday was October 18th. Amy sent me beautiful white roses again for his birthday. She, as all of us, are still struggling. If only he were still here, they could have had a wonderful life together. I know he would not have wanted to live if he was not 100% and his normal perfect self, but it is just so hard to understand and let go. My own mortality keeps popping up now. He was all I had. A friend asked recently about how I felt towards the young man that caused the accident. I said I was still angry and he told me I had to get over it and move on. Easier said than done. People, not even meaning to, can be so insensitive. They tell me these grief spurts go on for years. It just feels like yesterday still. I still want to call him and hear his voice.

It has been almost a year since we lost Pierce. I still miss him so much and long to see his smile. I want to thank everyone for the love and concern they showed Pierce in the hospital and at his funeral. It has been a long hard year for those of us that loved him and I pray it gets easier. If anyone has pictures or memories, I would love to hear from you. Thanks again so much.

Amy, and family & friends of Pierce: For the past five minutes, I've stared at my screen, contemplating exactly what to write. I did not know Pierce, but I know he made Amy very happy. And while there are no magical words that I can say to remove your pain, please know that I am thinking of you all and pray that all of you are given strength to help you through this.
