Renee Hooker Obituary

Renee Michelle Hooker, 39, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, Feb. 24, 2005, at her home in Blue Springs, MO, after a brief and valiant fight with a brain tumor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 27, 2005, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4313 S. Highway Seven, Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be from 3 until 5:45 p.m., Sunday, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 2, 2005, at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, New Braunfels, TX. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Renee was born June 26, 1965, in Kansas City, MO, to Roland and Loretta (Rathbun) Woods. She attended Raymore-Peculiar High School. She graduated from KU earning her BS in Nursing, in 1987. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International and was listed in Who's Who Among American Women. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. She met Joel Hooker on a pilgrimage to Rome, and they were married in 1988 making their home in New Braunfels, TX. They lived there with their three children, Andrew, Catherine, and Rebekah, until moving to Blue Springs in 2001. Renee was employed at Liberty Hospital in Clinical Education prior to her illness. She was a dedicated nurse, wife, and mother. From childhood Renee loved reading, creative writing, music and art, this love overflowing into her passion for the education of her children. She is survived by her parents; Roland and Loretta Woods, Raymore, MO; her husband, Joel Hooker; her children, Andrew Hooker, Catherine Hooker, and Rebekah Hooker, of the home; brother, Clint Woods, and his wife, Lori, and their children, Jacob Woods, Blake Wells, and Jacob Wells. Aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and her extended family and friends. (Arr; D. W. Newcomer's Sons Blue Springs Chapel, 1600 Main St., Blue Springs, MO, 816229-3276).

What a great family to have gotten to know! Such loving and compassionate people the Hookers are. Know that Renee will always be watching you throughout your lives and will be ever present as you go on!
