RICHARD TIGHE Obituary

RICHARD ROLLINS TIGHE August 5, 1935 to April 1, 2018 Richard (Dick) Rollins Tighe, 82, passed away Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 after a long illness. Dick was born Aug. 5, 1935 in Baltimore, MD, the son of the late William Rollins and Caroline Willelma Yancey Tighe. He attended Calvert Elementary School and McDonogh Military School in Baltimore. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity at North Carolina State University and graduated with a Forestry degree in 1957. He was an Artillery Officer in the Army when he married Jessie Edith Davis of Baltimore on Oct. 24, 1958. While working for Esso he attended night school and earned his law degree from The University of Baltimore School of Law. He then worked for H. B. Davis Paint Co. in Baltimore before moving to Kansas City in June of 1969 to work for Conchemco and later Merrill Lynch. After working for Merrill Lynch he started his own brokerage firm, Kansas City Brokerage Service, Inc. His interest in the stock market continued after retirement and he remained active. He moved to Rockwall, Texas to be near family in December 2015. Dick was devoted to his wife and best friend, Jessie, who passed away in August of 2014. During their 55-year marriage, they loved flying his Cessna 182 airplane, playing tennis, and traveling with family and friends. They enjoyed hosting family and friends at their timeshares in Jackson Hole and Sedona. He attended the Oshkosh Fly-In with his buddies the "Fly Boys" several years. He was known for his great sense of humor, and he and Jessie loved practical jokes. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, his parents, brother, William Yancey Tighe, and sister, Caroline Matilda Tighe. He is survived and will be dearly missed by his daughter, Yancey Tighe Seitz and husband Steve of Heath, TX, and his son, William Davis Tighe and wife Jean of Lutherville, MD. "Granddaddy" as he was known had 4 grandchildren: Caroline E. Seitz, Sarah B. Seitz, William D. Tighe, Jr., and Matthew R. Tighe. He will also be missed by extended family and many dear friends. The family will have a memorial service in Baltimore, MD, at a later date.
