Robert Grauberger Obituary

Robert N. Grauberger, Jr., (Bob), 52, died peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on March 3, 2005. Visitation will be Sunday, March 6, 2005, from 2-4 p.m., at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Chapel, 10507 Holmes Rd., Kansas City, MO. Service will be Monday, March 7, 2005, at 1 p.m., also at Mt. Moriah. Burial in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Bob was born on Feb. 18, 1953, in Kansas City, MO. After graduating from Center High School in 1971, Bob served in the U.S. Marines, which was followed by a 27 year career at KCP&L. Bob was a lead lineman and a member of IBEW Local 1464, where he served as a steward for many years. Bob was an avid outdoorsman, who loved nature and particularly enjoyed hunting and fishing, and camping. Above all, Bob loved his family deeply and he will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. Bob will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched. He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Jimi Kathleen Grauberger, and three daughters, Betty Jean Grauberger, Jimi Joanna Grauberger, Jamaica Billings, and her husband, Kyle. Bob is also survived by two granddaughters, Lacey, and Brienne Billings; three sisters, Ellen Long, Julie Sandborn, Gail Grauberger; and one brother, William Grauberger. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert N. and Betty Jean Grauberger; and infant son, Orris Thompson Grauberger. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cancer Action, 1831 Minnesota Ave., Kansas City, KS, 66102, or Platte Woods United Methodist Church, 7310 NW Prairie View Rd., Kansas City, MO. I am saddened to hear of Bob's passing. He lived in my neighborhood when we were growing up, and we attended school togther. I always thought very highly of him and his wife, Kathy. My thoughts and prayers are with his entire family during this time.
