Rodd Anthony Obituary

Rodd M. Anthony Rodd Anthony, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on June 4, 2018, after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. Rodd was born on July 8, 1949 in Kansas City, Kansas to Lou and Lillian Anthony. He was founder and CEO of Anthony Construction for over 25 years, providing remarkable remodeling services to many customers who, more than often, became close friends. He was a quiet, kind and thoughtful man, who was always more concerned about the well-being of others than his own. Rodd surpassed his prognosis by sheer determination, in his desire to remain with his wife of 38 years, Kathleen (O'Connell) Anthony, of the home. His parents, as well as his sister, Sherry Lantz, preceded him in death. He is survived by and will be sadly missed by his cousin, Michael Herschel, those who worked for him, and by his many O'Connell siblings-in-law, nieces and nephews, his neighbors, his customers and his two best girl friends, Lisa and Pam. A visitation will be held at McGilley & Hoge Chapel, 8024 Santa Fe Drive, Overland Park from 6-8pm, Monday, June 11, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to KU Cancer Center- KU Endowment, 4125 Rainbow Blvd, Suite 300, Kansas City, KS 66103 or Outpacing Melanoma, 11939 Noland St, Overland Park, KS 66213. A true gentleman, Master Craftsman, and overall wonderful, honest businessman. Rodd has taken care of our house for many years and I never had a complaint with any of his work. May he rest in peace.

I met Rodd and became friends with him doing paint work for his company. Rodd always made other people his priority. In construction, schedules always get pushed back, some sub-contractors are late or never show. Rodd always came through for his clients, as well as his contractors. He often paid his invoices while waiting for his payments. I have never considered any of my builders a personal friend, but Rodd Anthony changed that for me. The world is less bright without him.
