Roger was a sweet boy, I remember playing hide-n-seek in the house in Blue Springs, MO, when Roger was maybe about 7 years old. It was a fun time!

Little Rog,
It is now 3:30 AM, exactly 2 years ago today at this time you took your last breath. Your last trip on this earth.
Before I knew you, before you were even born I loved you. I was the proudest man in the world the day you born. Big dreams, high hopes for you. Our trips began. The first trip home.Your first big wheel, first swingset, first bicycle. The adventurous trips through school. Then the ski trips, the little league trips, the trips to the beaches of Florida and California. The trips through a few high schools, but you made it.
You chose to make the NOLS trip on your own and you excelled. Then the trip back home to work with me .Then the trip of a lifetime to start your own family. Maddie ,at 9 years old, is the little caring, loving mother. Noah, at 5 years old is very thoughtful and considerate. Jude, at 3 years old, is a free spirit in his own little world. All three are the sum of you. I don't know how Nancy does it sometimes, but I am very proud of her, as you would be.
Kendall is as smart and pretty as they come at 3 years old. Bella is a little redheaded fireball at 2 years old.
I wish I could remove the hurt, pain, sadness and heartbreak from Mom,Jenna,Joe ,Josh,Jenny and Nancy and the kids.
We talk about you often. I will keep your stories going.
I miss your hugs, your humor, working with you and cooking out with you.I miss the golf trips with you,Joe and Josh. I miss the Easter egg hunts, the 4th of July fireworks, Thanksgiving dinners and most of all Christmas with you
The only trip I regret is the last one you had to make by yourself. Knowing my mom and grandma and grandpa Keenan, I am pretty sure you were not alone.
Thank you for being my little Roger. It is an honor being your father.I have been blessed.
Until we meet again, Prayers,Peace and my Love.

Good morning Rog,

That sounds so nice... Rog, so soft.
I can't find a way to express what is in my heart, soul, and mind. I miss you. I love you. Such simple words. Too human, now that you are not here.
This season, Easter season, this week is painful.

Sunday evening, the next night I went home from the hospital and slept in my bed. I already knew you were gone, I knew when Nancy called Saturday evening.
I needed to do this by myself, alone. I went through every memory from your birth to this day in 24 hours. It was forever, and still not enough. I prayed for help I didn't want. Faith...I would survive, my family would survive. Love...all the love I have would be enough. Strength...my physical human body able to withstand what it was about to be asked to do. The pain...of your dad, Joe, Josh, and Jenna, Nancy, and our grandchildren Madelynne, Noah, Jude, Kendall, Bella(new born a few days new), and all future grandchildren.

I am blessed with all their love. I worry how they feel, hurt, cry, grow, learn. I know you are with us, your love, our love.

It is very early morning, still dark. I can hear the birds singing, awakening. I heard them sing when we left the hospital early in the morning, the last time I saw you. We all went home.
I worry I will forget, I worry I will forget the emotion of pain. The last emotions. The pain, sadness, crying, fear, loneliness. The miracle of death, not of this earth, heavenly.
My last memories with you, shared with my family.
I love you Rog, simple words so strong,

Mom

My dearest first born child,

Roger III, I have loved you unconditionally all my life. I will until that life is completed.

I want to thank you for all you are to me. A blond hair, green eyed skinny boy. A grown man, tall, strong. Although sensitive, innocent, and somewhat naive to this world's expectations. And yet you managed to keep that little boy alive within you. Those green eyes that have a way of looking right into your heart, and that smile that fades away ever so slowly. And yet you are still there, lingering. I have captured your heart and tucked it in mine to keep you safe. You will always live there within me.

Life on this earth has brought many challenges. This is the most difficult. The most painful. We are human, and yet we are asked to accept what is not humanly possible.

I awake every morning and give thanks for my blessings and ask for just a little more strength today. I ask that all of us be kind to each other and love unconditionally.

"Do unto to others as you would have them do unto you"

I pray for guidance and healing for all my family, so that we may be able to fulfill our purpose here on earth.

Roger, on your last day on earth we gave forgiveness in your name. I felt that day I didn't need to forgive you, you had been glorified. I, instead asked for forgiveness. Today, I ask again.

"Please forgive them for they know not what they do"

I love you, I miss you, I think about you in every moment, I see you in Joe, Josh, and Jenna. I see you in the faces of your children Madelynne 8 yrs, Noah 4 yrs, and Jude 2 yrs. We will keep you there forever.

Thank you God for your creation of my child,

Mom

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

As Roger's aunt, one of my favorite memories is when he and his little brother, Joe, and I played hide and seek in the house. We moved some of the furniture to have new and better hiding places! As a child, Roger always seemed to have a smile on his face and as an adult, he always had a kind word for everyone - and he always seemed to make everyone around him feel special. Roger I miss you and I will always love you. Aunt Cissy

One thing I am going to miss is that every time I would see him, no matter where or what the scene was, the 1st thing he would say to me was "Biff" with a smooth mannerly tone that sometimes made me think if he knew my real name :) He was a great person and a great friend! He will be missed but will live forever in the minds of many.
