Sandra Beasley Obituary

Born on May 9th, 1942, to Rev. Willie Earl and Mrs. Jennie Hytche Jarrett was a bouncing baby girl that they named Sandra Anita. She was the oldest of three children. Both parents preceded Sandra in the transition from this life to eternity. She received her undergraduate degree from Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma in 1965. She earned a certificate in Elementary Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Later she earned a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. From 1967 to 2003, Sandra worked in the Kansas City Public School system in a variety of positions. Her favorite responsibility was teaching children as well as adults. She retired in 2003 as a High School Principal. Sandra loved the Lord and gave Him all praise for His many blessings and the times He carried her when she was unable to make the walk alone. She thanked Him daily for the blessings of her family, church home, and friends. On December 22, 2008, at the age of 66, Sandra entered her life in eternity. She leaves a large group of family and friends to carry out her legacy: husband Joseph Beasley, brother Ronald Earl Jarrett, sister Jennifer Jarrett Criner and their families; sons, Dr. Rodney (Kimberly) Beasley and Roderick Beasley, daughter, Angie Metts; her grandchildren, Demetrius, Dion, DuJuan, Bhrandon, Beaumont, Crystal, Jada, Roderick II, Grant, Caleb and Lauren; and Myra, Lana, Melinda, and Suzanne, the mothers of her grandchildren; nephews Shata Love, Ronald Love, and niece Tanya Jarrett Spencer; her special children of Shata Love; three aunts, Mae Kathryn Jarrett Copeland, Vernice Bess Jarrett and Loretta Gilkey; her abiding spiritual sisters, Pricilla Combs, Beverly Miller, Linda Watkins and Mary Wills; and a host of other relatives and friends. I am sorry to hear that Mrs. Beasley passed away.

I met Mrs. Beasley in 1996 as she was Vice Principal at Westport High.

Mrs. Beasley is a woman I will never forget. As someone said previously "she taught us girls how to be ladies." She was a real disciplinarian and was a firm believer in tough love. They took religion out of the school, but Mrs. Beasley was not afraid to bring you into her office and give you a good stern talkin to and Pray for you. It was all LOVE though!

When I last saw Mrs. Beasley in 2007 I thanked her for caring about us and told her if there were more Principals like her in the schools today there would be no child left behind.

Mrs. Beasley you are loved and will be missed!

Iam sorry to learn of the passing of Ms. Beasley. I knew her many years ago as Sandra Jackson when she was a 6th grade teacher at Kumpf Elementary school. As I went into my teaching career, I met Ms. Beasley once again at Cental High school. She was passionate about students and had spent many years serving them. I pray that all of her loved ones will be comforted by the Lord.

Ms. Beasley you will be missed. Thank for teaching me Black History at East High School and for teaching all of us 'girls' how to be ladies.
