Sharyn Johnson Obituary

Sharyn Kaye Johnson

March 3, 1946 - March 23, 2025

Overland Park, Kansas - Sharyn Miller Johnson was born in Kansas City, MO, to Francis and Tom Miller. She spent her early years in Oklahoma and Texas before settling in Atchison, KS, with her siblings, Nancy and Tom. After graduating from Atchison High School in 1964, she pursued nursing at St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing. During this time, Sharyn met and married Darwin Johnson in 1967. His military service took them to various states, including Mississippi, Maine, and New Mexico, where they welcomed their first child, Michelle, in 1971.

In 1973, the family settled in Olathe, KS, where Sharyn worked as a labor and delivery nurse for 30 years, touching the lives of countless mothers and babies. She and Darwin had two more children, Karyn in 1974 and David in 1976. A devoted mother, Sharyn was actively involved in her children's activities as a room mother, scout leader, and dedicated supporter at sporting events. She loved traveling to tournaments, often accompanied by family.

A talented seamstress, Sharyn created dresses, costumes, and even a wedding gown for her eldest daughter. She cherished family gatherings and took pride in caring for her extended family. After retirement, she reconnected with lifelong friends and treasured the companionship of her neighbors on Locust Street.

Above all, Sharyn found immense joy in her family, especially her seven grandchildren. She traveled across the country to visit them, making lasting memories in Alabama, Boston, New Mexico, and California.

Sharyn spent her life caring for others and now rests peacefully in the arms of the Lord.

She is survived by her brother, Tom Miller; children: Shelly Gravatt (Lincoln), Karyn Pace (Michael), and David Johnson (Korrie); and grandchildren: Kayla, Courtney, Chamberlyn, Haley, Ella, Drew, and Josiah.
