Sherry Kaplan Obituary

Sherry Hyatt Kaplan, 45, of Leawood, KS, died Thursday, December 26, 2002, in an accident in Ft. Pierce, FL. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, December 30, at the Beth Shalom Synagogue, 9500 Wornall Rd. Burial will be in the Beth Torah Section at Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Kindly omit flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy or the Beth Shalom Synagogue. Sherry was born November 21, 1957, in Philadelphia, PA, to I. Ralph Hyatt and Susan Dunner Hyatt. As a registered nurse, she enjoyed working in the medical profession and serving the Jewish Community in many capacities. Sherry was a member of the Kansas City Chevra Kadisha, Beth Shalom Synagogue and its Chesed Committee. She was a leader in many of the Beth Shalom activities, including being a regular Torah Reader. Sherry was also an active volunteer at the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy. Mrs. Kaplan is survived by her husband of 18 years, Dr. David Kaplan and children, Benjamin, Danielle and Matthew Kaplan, all of the home; maternal parents, I. Ralph and Susan Hyatt, Philadelphia, PA; paternal parents, George and Alice Kaplan, Leawood, KS; brother and sisterin-law, Glenn and Nancy Hyatt, Philadelphia, PA; nephews, Jordan, Adam and Daniel; brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Cheryl Kaplan, Aptos, CA; niece, Leah; and many dear friends.
