Susie Nelson Obituary

Susie (Imogene) Nelson peacefully made her transition from this planet on January 16, 2009. She was 88 years old. Susie was born and raised in LaCygne, Kan., to Frank and Mabel Plumb, one of five children. Susie is survived by her younger sister, Ilah Swenson. Susie was married for 51 years to Donald V. Nelson Sr., who transitioned before her. They raised four surviving children, Donald V. Nelson Jr., Laurence G. Nelson (wife Pilar Nelson), Thomas S. Nelson, and Susan Eeds (husband Sandy Eeds). They were blessed with six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Susie and Don lived in and loved Wichita, Kan. For the first 20 years of their married life they made many life- long friends there and a lovely home for their children. They moved to Kansas City in 1968. Susie was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was an accomplished seamstress. In her younger years she was a singer who performed often for others and she never lost her love of singing. She was an avid reader, and always prided herself in keeping up with current affairs. Susie was a member of the Broadway Methodist Church, although most of her life, she was connected with the Baptist religion. Susie's family will be celebrating her transition at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 21 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Stine & McClure Chapel, 3235 Gillham Plaza, Kansas City, MO 64109. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery. Arr.: D.W. Newcomer's Sons Stine & McClure Chapel (816) 931-7777.
