Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania - Ted Nelson Magee passed away on August 18, 2022 at his home. He was 86 years old, born October 12, 1935 to the late Riva Hope Lewis Magee and Chester Robert Magee in Kansas City, Missouri. His wife of 66 years Mary Lou Kelly Magee and children Kevin Michael Magee, Sean Patrick (Elisa Tina) Magee and Kelly Siobhan Magee were in attendance. There are four grandchildren, Caleb Nelson Magee, Liam Casey Magee, Brianna Krisztina Magee and Morgan Gabrielle Magee. Ted was the brother of Patricia Valentine, Chester Robert (Lori) Magee, Laura Hope Morlen, Priscilla (Kenneth) Oliver and Mary Jane Wakefield. Brother-in-law of Patricia Lee Dean; brother-in-law of the late Ottis Charles (Ursla) Kelly, James Valentine, Doug Wakefield, Roy Morlen, and Norman Dean, James William and Dorothy Pettick and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Ted's legacy is Magee Plastics Company founded by him December 3, 1968 in Pittsburgh, PA. He borrowed $2,000.00 from Mary Kelly, his mother-in-law and bought a used typewriter and Mary Lou was his secretary. He recognized the need in the airline industry for cabin interior "aftermarket" parts such as pilot and co-pilot sun visors, window panels, shades, bin doors, arm rests and much more. Ground support equipment too, like luggage cart corner bumpers. Ted patented several items. Ted hired excellent people and was very proud of their skills and loyalty. They had his respect and admiration 100%.
Ted was an excellent golfer. Over the years he had many "hole in ones" and was invited to play in several PRO-AM tournaments. He was always a humble winner. In addition he was a great cook, talented photographer, "green thumb" gardener, history buff and above all a care lover.
