Thomas Witcher Obituary
Thomas Witcher
September 1, 1995 - May 2, 2022
Denver, Colorado - Thomas William Witcher, "Tom", age 26, passed away quietly on 05/02/2022. Tom lived in Denver, CO but is formerly from Mission Hills, KS. He is predeceased by his Dad, James Thomas Witcher, "Tommy". He is survived by his mother, Melissa Ann Witcher, his sister, Natalie Rose Witcher, and his dog Beauty.
Tom was a wonderful, kind and loving person. He was born in the Kansas City area and attended Shawnee Mission Schools, Prairie Elementary, Mission Valley and Indian Hills Middle schools, and Shawnee Mission East High School. He graduated college from Central Methodist University with a degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business.
Tom was the kindest, sweetest, most generous soul you could have the privilege to know. He literally would not kill a bug. He thought it was mean, insisting on carrying out the scariest spider or other creature that he found inside. He once even brought 2 goldfish back to life! If he ever hurt anyone's feelings, he went out of his way to make it right. He was sensitive, forgiving and loving to a fault and felt everything deeply with all his heart.
As a little boy, Tom was full of life, so carefree and happy, smiling and laughing all the time. He played with fighting action figures, collected Yugo cards, loved Pokémon and hurling the balls onto the hardwood floor, yelling "Pikachu Go!". He rocked the PV talent show playing the guitar with a specular finish playing on his knees. He played soccer and baseball. One baseball game he got caught in a hotbox between 3rd and home, when he made the winning run the whole team ran and picked him up in the air! It was like something out of a move.
He loved playing outside, climbing trees high into the air, and occasionally tormenting his sister.
Tom had a passion for life and anything he undertook he perfected. His first love was skateboarding and you can still find videos of him skating on YouTube, even back to grade school, see his frontside pressure flip tutorial from 2009, or PV in the Winter. He was thrilled when he won the skateboard competition between Mission Valley and Indian Hill after recounting how he dreamed about it the night before. He and his buddy's had so much fun travelling around to various skate parks, and finding fun rails and stairs. He never lost his love of it.
He also enjoyed stock investing, an interest that took off as a teen after attending a Berkshire Hathaway meeting with his Dad and Grandfather, "Big Jim". Like everything he did, he took it seriously and dug in to learning all he could. He bought and read all the investment books Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger suggested, applied the knowledge and took off! He was fabulous at it! He never lost a dime and was incredibly successful.
But his greatest love and passion was music. He had a in home studio from the time he was 16 and mastered the craft. He was very talented. He created beats, wrote lyrics, recorded, mixed and mastered, for himself and others. He could do the whole package. Tom had an ability to totally focus on his work, he was a perfectionist when it came to his music. As a teen and young adult, he did apprenticeship and internship at Chapman Recording Studios in KS, and got music certificate from JCCC, but basically learned his craft through a decade of hard work and commitment to it. Recently he was very excited about connecting with his favorite artist Mac Dre's friend, Zaytoven, and a personal invitation to send him work. You can find Tom's work on Soundcloud under "Vintage Tom" or search Tom Witcher where his credited for his music/mixing/mastering on the CD's of other artists, and YouTube as "Tomatrizer" where he posted one of his latest songs. He is leaving behind a treasure trove of music that is being passed on to others so that will hopefully continue to bring joy to those who appreciate it.
Tom had family and friends who loved him very much. He loved hanging out with his Dad, talking stocks, watching a funny video and laughing. The two went downhill biking in Colorado and hit the black trails on day one. Later, after his Dad was passed away, he and his Mom enjoyed cooking together, he cooked, she cleaned, watching Rick and Morty, South Park, something silly on YouTube or listening to music, and going out for fine dining. He had a sweet Lab mix dog, Beauty, who he loved very much. He played video games with all his friends in KC and around the country, and occasionally Mario Cart with his Mom. He loved the ocean and mountains, snorkeling, scuba, jet skiing, hiking, snowboarding and just being with people he cared about. Whoever Tom was with got his full attention, loyalty, and commitment.
26 years is so brief, too brief, and there is no way to fully describe who this wonderful, amazing young man was in words. But those who truly knew and loved Tom know what a gift he was on this earth. His smile, his kindness, his room filling laugh will all be missed so much but not forgotten. As the song Starry, Starry, Night says, "This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you". We love you Tom. Rest in God's loving hands precious, precious soul, until we meet again.
