Delores Witcher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Blaylock Funeral Home on Feb. 19, 2026.
Delores "Dee" Ann Murrell Witcher was born on February 8, 1953, in Rotan, Texas. She grew up in Jayton, Texas, as the youngest of six children and later moved to Lubbock, where she met the love of her life. They were married in Lubbock on October 27, 1978, and lived in Littlefield, Texas, until 1980, when they moved to Brownwood to be closer to her parents, who had retired there. Delores ran an in-home daycare for more than 40 years and cared for over 100 children throughout that time, loving many of them as her own.

From an early age, she loved playing and watching sports and remained an avid sports fan throughout her life, especially cheering for her favorite team, the Dallas Cowboys.

Delores and her husband, Buddy, were devoted volunteers for the Brownwood High School Band Boosters, Lake Cisco Christian Camp (Early/Nocona session), the Early Church of Christ, and Tuesday Sunshine School, among others. They also ran the Homespun Christmas craft sale out of their home for more than 20 years and had a booth at Peddlers at the mall, where you might have met them working. Delores loved all things Christmas and had quite a knack for decorating for the holidays. She was a talented crafter, calligrapher, and artist. More than anything, she loved her family, especially her three granddaughters and great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Witcher; her parents, James "Edd" and Gladys Murrell; and her brothers, Harlon Murrell, Gene Murrell, and Gerald Murrell.

She is survived by her children and their families: her son, Jason Witcher and wife, Ashleigh, and granddaughters, Addison and Ryleigh, and great-grandson, Jackson, of Brownwood, Texas; her daughter, Amber Gaudette and husband, Tim, and granddaughter, Sloan, of Fort Worth, Texas; her brother, Harold Murrell of Crosby, Texas; her sister, Renee George of Houston, Texas; as well as several brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, February 22, 2026, with visitation at 2:00 p.m. prior to services at 3:00 p.m. at the Early Church of Christ.

Her warmth, laughter, and unwavering love for her family will be profoundly missed, and her memory will be cherished always by those blessed to have known her. Those who plan to attend her services are asked to wear blue, as it was her favorite color.

Arrangements are entrusted to Blaylock Funeral Home, Brownwood, Texas.
