Tildie Ann Meininger Alberti

Tildie Ann Meininger Alberti DVM, 87, Overland Park, Kansas, passed away October 15, 2005 at Garden Terrace of Overland Park. Tildie was born March 1, 1918 to Dr. Thomas and Myrtle Fowler of Kansas City, Kansas. She attended the University of Kansas where she completed a degree in English and was a member of Alpha Chi Omega. Tildie married Walter Meininger in 1942. After Walt's death in Italy during World War II, Tildie attended Colorado State University and received the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1948. She practiced veterinary medicine with her father, Dr. T.A. Fowler in Kansas City, Kansas during the 1950's. Tildie married Gunter Alberti, DVM in 1957 and continued practicing veterinary medicine with her father and husband at Fowler Meininger Alberti Animal Hospital of Fairway, Kansas. In 1983, Tildie opened the Georgetown Animal Clinic of Overland Park, Kansas. She retired from veterinary practice in 1998. Dr. Meininger was an exceptionally talented veterinarian who devoted her life to the care of animals. She was also an experienced horsewoman. Til began taking riding lessons at age 74 and showed Quarter Horses throughout the Midwest. She was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association and the Kansas and Missouri Quarter Horse Associations. She won numerous awards with her horse, Doc's Sunshine Boy, and became an inspiration to all who knew her. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 28, 2005 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home, 10507 Holmes, Kansas City, Missouri. Because Tildie was a founding member of Animal Haven Animal Shelter, contributions to the Dr. Tildie Meininger Memorial Fund to aid the new building project are suggested in lieu of flowers.
