1947 - 2016

Walter David Garnand, age 68 of Overland Park, KS, passed away peacefully in his home on May 9, 2016. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, May 13 at Overland Park Chapel, 8201 Metcalf Avenue, Overland Park. Rosary will be 10 a.m., followed by Visitation until 11 a.m. at St. Dominic's Catholic Church, 615 JC Street, Garden City, KS on Tuesday, May 17. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. at the church, followed by burial at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, KS. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to www.pancan.org. Dave was born on October 3, 1947 in Garden City, KS. He attended Garden City High School before joining the US Marine Corps. He served two tours of duty during the Vietnam War. He recently retired from the US Postal Service. His father, Kelsey Garnand preceded him in death. Dave is survived by his wife of 29 years, Janice Garnand; his former spouse and mother of his three children, Karen Routon (Larry) Libs; his daughter, Sheri Ann Garnand of Phoenix, AZ; his son Greg Garnand and wife Lily of Shawnee, KS and their three children, Kham, Corbin and Quinn; his son Michael Garnand and partner Nakhon of Shawnee, KS and their three children Kennedy, Reese and Dawson; his step-daughter Lisa Moreland of Yorkshire, England and her son Finnegan; a step-son of Overland Park, KS; his mother Rosetta Garnand of Garden City, KS; brothers and sisters: Danny (Deb) Garnand, of Guthrie, OK; Jolene (Danny) Novack; Janel (Greg) Haflich; DeWain Garnand, all of Garden City, KS and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Dave enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time outdoors. He was a true patriot who loved and supported his countryand was a talented craftsman with a witty sense of humor.
