Mr. Martin was my junior-year English teacher (1959-1969). Knowing that I loved to read, he took gleeful pleasure in assigning me lengthy tomes which he knew no one else would read, such as Undset's Kristin Lavransdattar. Many of our classes evolved into a dialogue between Mr.Martin and me, as we argued about odd points in the literature we read. He was a good teacher, and practiced a noble art with skill.
