William Carolan

Kansas City, Missouri - William George Carolan died peacefully at home at McCrite Plaza at Briarcliff, surrounded by his children, on Tuesday, June 20, 2023. He was 85. Bill was born July 24, 1937, in Philadelphia, to Walter C. Carolan and Verna M. Rose, and lived in Kansas City since 1941. He graduated Southwest High School and earned a mechanical engineering degree in 1960 from the University of Kansas. In 1961, he married Connie J. Felt, of Salem, MO. They had five children and lived in the Country Club District. In 1982, he married Diane E. Baker (deceased), of Kansas City, KS, and became stepfather to five children. They lived in Prairie Village. Bill was vice president of W.C. Carolan Company, Inc., and a partner in Dust Suppression Systems, Inc., until 1978 and then invested in real estate. He returned to engineering in 1992 and retired from Raytheon in 2004. He was a member of Old Mission United Methodist Church. He leaves behind his children: Nancy Carolan, Virginia Beach, VA; Michael Carolan, Belchertown, MA; Melissa Gouffray, Alexandria, VA; Melanie Van Dyke (deceased) and Kent Carolan, Kansas City; stepchildren: Beth Wiebe, Branson; Kathy Baker, Olathe; Michael Baker and Jenny Slusser, Tonganoxie; and Amy Wilson, Olathe; 22 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
