John Shotwell Obituary

John Wheeler Shotwell
Born: October 17, 1940
Died: February 24, 2025
John Wheeler Shotwell, age 84 of Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, passed away on Monday evening, February 24, 2025.
He was born in Greenwood, Mississippi on October 17, 1940 to the late Harold and Marian (Wheeler) Shotwell. On December 5, 1987 he married Patricia Beck, who survives.
Although John's father died when he was just two years old, John's abilities and interests seemed to follow his father's in the technical and engineering field. John attended a community college for one year and studied at the Missouri School of Mines. His interest was in electrical engineering. He left after one year to enter the job, studying and learning many things on his own, including computers. He enjoys active, "hands on" learning and being self-taught.
From 1965 to 1974 John owned a local retail store, Music Ltd. Later, he and a friend has their own aluminum siding business for ten years. He worked as a maintenance supervisor at the Kane County Government Center, was an associate at Lugbill Supply in Archbold, OH, and worked as a clerk at Ridgeville Water and Sewer District.
John loved his family and will be greatly missed by family, friends and colleagues.
John is survived by his loving wife Patricia, his son Justin (Beth) Shotwell of Oak Park, IL, granddaughter, Winifred Shotwell, grandson Shotwell who is on the way, and his nephew Harold Shotwell of Las Vegas, NV., and stepbrother, Bill Shotwell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepbrother, Bill Shotwell.
Schaffer Funeral Home was honored to assist the family with arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to Ridgeville Township Volunteer Fire Department.
