Oliver Reuter Obituary

ELGIN – Oliver Reuter, 85, of Elgin, passed away peacefully on Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, at Provena Mercy Center in Aurora. He was born June 15, 1924, in Elgin, the son of Henry and Anna Reuter.

Oliver was a proud veteran of World War II, serving as a tank crewman in the European theater with the U.S. Army. He was a lifetime member of the Elgin VFW Post 1307. Oliver was a house painter and a proud member of District Council 30.

He is survived by his daughters, Bonnie (Ken) Yates of Aurora and Kathy (Jerry) Chapski of St. Charles; four grandchildren, Amanda Castro, and Matthew, Michelle, and Teresa Chapski; a brother, Darwin (Maryanna) Reuter of Fort Collins, Colo.; a nephew, Mark (Barbara) Reuter and their children, Madison and Allysa; a niece, Stephanie Darling, and her children, Jason and Timmy Carlson, and Ashley Andrews, and her child, Diego Romero.

In addition to his parents, Oliver is preceded in death by his wife Beulah; a brother, Orville; a sister, Elsie; and a niece, Nancy Getzelman.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, Feb. 26, at Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St. (three blocks west of the river and one block south of Route 64), St. Charles, where a service will follow at noon. The Rev. Dr. Robert Kasper will officiate. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in St. Charles.
